GRAN TORINO (Clint Eastwood, 2008)

Have you ever thought in how a character can influence in your feelings when acting in a movie? Walt (Clint Eastwood) is an example of this. Lighting and compostion of the shots are during the entire movie a way to see how the characters feel between each others and also how do the director want to show them to the spectator. But this is something we don't really pay attention to because generally, people are more interested in the movie itself. However, just watch the film a couple of seconds and look at these aspects: lights, shadows, the order of the characters in the scene, clothes, faces... Mise-en-scène: it is very important and even relevant to know the characters and of course to create an atmosphere of mystery and hate that describes specially the figure of Walt.

I love the end of this movie. I think it represents many things, not only for the movie but also culturally and regarding Clint Eastwood's carrier as an actor. The end is the only way for police to be able to catch the band. Culturally, it could represent the death of racism. Finally, it would also represent the end of Clint Eastwood as actor since it is the last movie in which he acts. Maybe, when doing the movie, those were the reasons for THIS end. But, what do you think about it?
